Virtualized HSS/HLR

Supporting 2G, 3G, 4G and IMS

A NextGen HSS software based solution for Subscriber Data Management should be specifically designed to avoid overfeaturing and overpricing, while being flexible, extensible and scalable. A state-of-the-art HSS product should surpasses the standards of existing HSS/HLR to enable your network to have a solution tailored to your needs.

Mapping the problems
Fixed and high license cost for subscribers and features
Different network elements for HLR, HSS, AuC and EIR
Based on proprietary hardware which become End-Of-Support soon
Limitation on total of subscriber in the current installed HLR
Challenges
Seamless migration and interworking between LTE & 3G/2G
Single platform for providing 2G,3G,LTE and IMS services
Flexible license to cope with growing number of subscribers
Host multiple mobile operators on a single HSS
Consequences
High OPEX cost to maintain existing solutions
Maintenance cost on legacy hardware
No roadmap to support 5G profiles
Limited capacity extension possibilities
How we solve this

Our Next Generation HSS (“NG HSS”) solution supports GSM, UMTS, LTE, IMS, Wi-Fi and M2M networks. The NG HSS is ideally suited for MNO, MVNO/MVNE and M2M market. It is designed to overcome the limitations and disadvantages of traditional HSS products regarding flexibility, virtualization, cost of scaling and vendor lock-in. It supports multiple technologies and functions in a single software design:

  • Home Subscriber Server (HSS) for LTE Data
  • Home Subscriber Server (HSS) for IMS Voice
  • Home Location Register (HLR) and Authentication Center (AuC) for 2G/3G
  • Equipment Identity Register (EIR)
  • Subscriber Location Function (SLF)
  • Multi-protocol interworking (SS7, Diameter, RADIUS, IT protocols)

The HSS and HLR functions share a single data repository, which provides convergence of subscription-related information (subscriber profiles), authentication, subscriber location and IP information.
